IC

Full Name: Percival Ignatius Weasley
Nicknames: Percy, Perce
Journal: [info]weasleythis
Age: 20
Birthday: August 22, 1976
Loyalty: Neutral
Marital Status: Single
Bloodline: Pureblood
Sexuality: Heterosexual
House: Ravenclaw
Year Graduated: 1994
Occupation: Healer trainee at St. Mungo's. Works part time at Flourish and Blotts.
Played By: Mitch Morris (preferred) or Anthony Rapp

Strengths: Dedicated and loyal to whatever he decides to follow. He is intelligent and quick to understand most things from his textbooks.
Weaknesses: Socially awkward and shy. Never knowing what to say in a conversation and coming off as conceited and stand-offish.
Likes: Reading, studying, working, books.
Dislikes: Most social situations, parties, drinking.
Overall Personality: Percy is smart and dedicated, two very typical Ravenclaw traits. What people considered weird about Percy was that he actually enjoyed studying. His time at Hogwarts was often spent in the library or, later, on his rounds as a prefect. He was viewed as odd and reclusive by his peers, but either he didn't notice or didn't care what they thought. Percy takes pride in the fact that he is intelligent and often talks about it, coming off as conceited. In reality, however, Percy doesn't know what else there is to talk about.

He is extremely awkward in social situations, relying heavily on textbook facts, which often thwart any attempt to socialize and act as a normal person in a crowd. At parties, he is the guy in the corner drinking water. Percy has a desire to be accepted, but he is unsure as to how he'll manage to do that. He likes the friends that he has, but he will hear about how popular the rest of his siblings are and secretly wishes he could be more like them. He has the middle child syndrome, in which he feels different and separated from the rest of his siblings.

Because of how often he read and how little he participated in discussions with anybody in his family, Percy failed to develop normal social skills. As a result, he is that quiet boy in the corner who always works and never joins in at parties or events.

He does have quite a bit of pride, however, and this shows through when he does manage to talk to people. Percy has a certain amount of vanity when it comes to his own intelligence and accomplishments, causing him to talk about them at length until people find excuses to leave. His social awkwardness is what prevents him from talking to people, and his intellectual arrogance is what keeps them away. He tries to remind himself to tone it down, but can never remember when actually in a conversation, mostly because his nerves tend to get the better of him.

Parents:
Molly Weasley - Mum
Arthur Weasley - Dad
Siblings:
Bill (26)
Charlie (24)
Fred (18)
George (18)
Ron (16)
Ginny (15)
Significant Other: N/A
Children: N/A
Overall Family Dynamics: Percy loves his family, he really does, but he has a problem fitting in with them. He just doesn't understand the talk about Quidditch or relationships or anything of the sort. As a result, he isn't nearly as close with them as he would like to be.

History: Percival Ignatius Weasley was the third child to be born to Arthur and Molly Weasley. Being who his parents were, Percy was considered special, well, because all their children were special. However, Percy would suffer from the dreaded "middle child syndrome", a case in which he felt completely different from the rest of his siblings, younger and older.

Percy spent much of his childhood reading, unlike many of his other siblings. He never enjoyed participating in sports, or even watching other people play them. Percy liked his books and getting lost in the stories. He was often found in a corner of his room, sitting on a pillow and reading a novel that was quite advanced for his age.

Once he began attending Hogwarts, he graduated from novels to textbooks, often spending his free time in the library, or on his prefect rounds, once he was given his badge. Percy was an exceptional student, but he still lacked the social skills he'd hoped he would gain while going to school. Though his own way of life suited him just fine, he sometimes wished he could be as gregarious as the twins or his older siblings.

Still, Percy did very well and left Hogwarts with an O in every subject he took. This opened the door to any career opportunity he wanted. He chose to train as a Healer at St. Mungo's, deciding that it required less people skills than almost anything else (except an Auror, but fighting was not for him). He has made a few acquaintances while in training, but he isn't sure when he's allowed to start considering people friends.

Before deciding on his career path, Percy got a part-time job at Flourish and Blotts stacking shelves and doing mundane tasks. He still hasn't quit, mostly because he finds it rather enjoyable, working at the book store. Some people say he overworks himself, but he actually likes it.

What plot lines would you like to see with this character? I would like to see people try and break Percy out of his shell, hopefully his family, and maybe someone will succeed. I think he'd be a fun addition to the game because throwing him into awkward situations will be so great. Also, I would like to see him go through similar things as he did in canon, choosing between his family and his work, just under different circumstances.

Audition Piece
To be or not to be, that was the question. It wasn't Percy's question, but it was the question that had been asked. He put the book he was reading back on the shelf before moving along to finish the task he'd been given. He didn't usually slack off on the job, but that Muggle writer was so fascinating. He wasn't prejudiced against Muggles by any means, but for the most part he found their writing mediocre at best. This Shakespeare fellow was an entirely different story. He was brilliant, and that was something coming from Percy.

The final book was placed on the shelf and Percy straightened up, pushing his glasses back up on his nose before looking around for the store manager, hoping for something else to do. It was a curious thing that Percy felt more at home here at the bookstore than he did back at the Burrow with his family. He was sometimes accused of choosing work over them, which was entirely untrue.

Well, maybe not all that untrue, but he needed to make a living somehow. He had his own flat, so he needed to pay for it. He couldn't live off his parents. He refused to. Plus, it wasn't like they had enough money to sustain him as well as themselves. Percy sighed and grabbed Hamlet off the shelf again, flipping back to the page he'd been reading from. Maybe William Shakespeare could give him some form of advice. Doubtful, but maybe.

Short Bio
Percy is the odd man out in the Weasley family. He is reserved and studious and not nearly as popular as any of his siblings. Therefore, Percy has focused all of his energy into work, even going so far as to hold a part time job in addition to training as a Healer. He is hoping, though, that someone can help him learn how to be a normal person.
